!MILITARY service in the American Revolution (1775-1783), was a 2nd Lieutenant in 1780. He was connected with the trial of Benedict Arnold for treason and with the execution of Major Andre, adjutant to Britich General Clinton. On one occasion he and others were cut off from their command and spent several days in a brier patch without food and very little water.
