      !RESEARCHER Leo K. Barton on BARTON-L@rootsweb.com on 10 Aug 2001. "Col. Thomas Barton born in Salem July 17, 1680. He practiced Physic in early life, and was an apothecary and Esquire, living in Salem, where he was town clerk, 1717-=1730. He married Mary Willoughby on Salem May 10, 1710; and died April 28, 1751. She survived him and died in January, 1758. He divised his homestead, apothecary shop, medicines, etc., to his son John. She bequethed in her will: "to my son John Barton my negro man called Scipio defiring him to treat him kindly, and not to sell him out of this country nor any bad master." Colonel Barton and his wife left good estates, having a considerable quantity of silver ware."
