Barton Jr. Settled in Texas before the Texas Revolution and was involved in the Texas Moderator-Regulator War. Said to have been the last person to be killed in that war and was buried at the location where he was hung, under a large Oak tree along HWY 80 just ouitside Marshall, Texas.
