!RESEARCHER Terry Barton in an e-mail to Leo Barton dated 28 Oct 2001: "David Oldham Barton, b 20 Dec 1770 in Fauquier Co VA, was the son of David Barton and Ruth Oldham (9th of their 10 children). The family left Fauquier Co after selling all of their household goods at the end of 1771. They moved to Surry Co NC (which became became Wilkes Co) and stayed there for some years. David was apparently killed by British-led Indians in Kentucky in 1775 while on an expedition led by Daniel Boone.
Ruth and most of the family moved to the Tugaloo River area of SC/GA in about 1785, leaving records in Pendleton Dist, Anderson & Oconee Co SC, Wilkes, Franklin, Elbert & Lincoln Counties Ga and maybe other places I haven't found yet. My ancestor, Thomas Barton, who married Sarah Kees, moved on to Morgan Co Ga in 1807 and on to Montgomery AL in 1817."
