Knox County Kentucky Court Book A, page 23, April 1801 Term: Ordered that Henry Barton have a certificate for 200 acres of land by virtue of an actual settlement made thereon lying on the main fork of Indian Creek, beginning on a black and white oak above the head of a spring and running down the creek on both sides for quanity.
    2. Knox County Kentucky Court Book A, page 63, Mar 1802 Term: Ordered that the certificate granted Henry Barton for 200 acres of land on Indian Creek be disannulled.

    For three years service in the Continental Line he was awarded 100 acres of land, warrant issued 17 Nov 1790. Henry subsequently sold his warrant and signed it over to John Clay who later assigned it to John Fowler who in turn assigned it to John Jordan

      !MILITARY: REVOLUTIONARY WAR service of a Henry BARTON is found in National Archives
      Microfilm 881, roll no. 933. Pvt. Henry BARTON enlisted on 1 Mar 1777 for a period of 3 years. He served in Capt. Andrew Wallace's Co. of the 12th Virginia Regiment commanded by Col. James Wood and Capt. Andrew Waggener's Co. of the 8th Virginia Regiment commanded by Col. James Wood. On 5 Oct 1778 Capt. Waggener's Co. was encamped at Robisons Farm.

      !CITED in Chalkley's "Chronicles of the Scotch-Irish Settlement in Virginia," pg. 89: "McKay vs. Rout and Barton - O.S. 50; N.S. 17 - Bill filed 20th September 1794. Many years ago William Weathers, then of Frederick, was possessed of Land in Frederick. During War of Revolution he was reported killed by Indians and his sisters took possession as heirs, viz: Susanna Barton (Burton), wife of Henry Barton; Jane Hurst, wife of Jacob Hurst, and Sarah Johnston, wife of Enos Johnston. Henry Barton lives in Botetourt. Bill says William Weathers has returned."
