!RESEARCHER descendant John Willard Barton Jr. on 22 Dec 2002 and 28 Apr 2008. The Barton Chapel United Methodist Church, located in Augusta, Georgia, was dedicated in 1854 and named after Dr. James T. Barton who was the first Pastor to serve the church. The church still exists today (4/08) at the intersection of Rt. 1 and Deans Bridge Road.
